In Wielenbach in the Upper Bavarian district of Weilheim-Schongau, the temperature climbed to 20.8 degrees – a high. The previously highest temperature on New Year’s Eve was 17 degrees in 1961 in Muellheim.
SSummer weather at the turn of the year: The German Weather Service (DWD) measured record values for December 31 on New Year’s Eve. In Wielenbach in the Upper Bavarian district of Weilheim-Schongau, 20.8 degrees were measured around 2 p.m., as the DWD confirmed to the German Press Agency on Saturday evening.
According to the DWD, four places in Germany reached 20 degrees on New Year’s Eve – in Bavaria there was Munich (Munich-Stadt station). The other two were not in Bavaria, but in Baden-Württemberg: In Müllheim near Freiburg and in Ohlsbach it was 20.3 degrees each.
There were also temperatures around 19 degrees in Freiburg, Stuttgart, Karlsruhe, Mannheim and Dresden. The previously highest temperature on New Year’s Eve was 17.0 degrees in 1961 in Mullheim, last year it was 16.9 degrees in Freiburg im Breisgau.
